To provide fire protection of light vehicles EPOTOS Association recommend installing generator of fire-extinguishing aerosol «Doping-2».

This extinguisher should be installed in fire dangerous areas of a vehicle (engine compartment, heater compartment, fuel tank compartment etc.) and started automatically by effect of heat, flame, sparkles occurring during fire or manually by pressing a button installed on dash panel in driver cabin.

RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE FIRE PROTECTION OF CARS OF DIFFERENT BRANDS AND MANUFACTURERS.

Design solution 1. Fire extinguishing in manual and autonomous start-up modes

Structure of the system:

  • GFEA «Doping-2.160p» — 1 piece;
  • PATS start button —  1 piece.

Purpose:

  • Generator of fire extinguishing aerosol GFEA «Doping-2.160p» — extinguishing the fire when the built-in thermal cord operates and discharging the extinguishing aerosol into the protected volume of the charge;
  • PATS start button — start-up of extinguishing agents by the driver.

In the fire-hazardous compartments (engine compartment, heater compartment) of the vehicle, GFEA «Doping-2.160p» is installed. Starting cables are laid in the driver’s cab and displayed on the start button of the PATS.
GFEA «Doping-2.160p» can trigger itself from the thermo-start cord (self-service mode), or when the PATS button is pressed by the driver, in case of visual detection of a fire.

Limitations on the functionality of the kit:

  • visual detection of a fire by the driver (only by external signs). GFEA «Doping-2.160p» in this situation will fire one at a time, as the fire spreads. Since «Doping-2.160p» is a means of volumetric quenching, a single operation of GFEA , if installed more than one, may not create the necessary extinguishing concentration and not extinguish the fire that has arisen;
  • there is no constant control of the start loop of GFEA «Doping-2.160p». If the starting wires are disconnected from the PATS button to the GOA, when the driver’s start button is turned on, the «Doping», naturally, will not be launched.

Recommended field of application:

  • engine compartments of cars, minibuses, buses PAZ, etc. Objects on which a fire arises in the immediate vicinity of the driver. Accordingly, the automatic fire detection and extinguishing system is redundant in this case.

 


Design solution 2. Fire-fighting in manual and autonomous modes of start-up. Diagnostics of starting circuits.

Structure of the system:

  • GFEA «Doping-2.160p» — 1 piece;
  • Fire suppression start device «UPSP 12.02», or «UPSP 24.02» — 1 piece;
  • Fire suppression start device «UPSP 12-24.01» — 1 piece.

Purpose:

Generator of fire extinguishing aerosol GFEA «Doping-2.160p»

  • Fire extinguishing when the built-in cord is triggered and release into the protected volume of the fire extinguishing aerosol charge;
  • Extinguishing the fire when electric impulse is applied to the contacts of the electric activator.

Fire suppression start device «UPSP 12.02», or «UPSP 24.02»

  • Control of the start-up and integrity trains of one electric-activator of the extinguishing agent;
  • Manual starting by the driver of extinguishing agents.

Fire suppression start device «UPSP 12-24.01»

  • Control of the start-up and integrity circuits of the two electroactivators of extinguishing agents;
  • Manual starting by the driver of extinguishing agents.

In fire-hazardous compartments, GFEA «Doping-2.160p» is installed. The starting wires are laid in the driver’s cab and connected to the Startup Device of the Fire Fighting System «UPSP 12 (24) .02″ for one GFEA «Doping-2.160p», or «UPSP 12-24.01″ for two GFEA «Doping-2.160p».

GFEA «Doping-2.160p» can work themselves from the cord of the thermal start (self-service mode), or when the UPSP is turned on by the driver, with visual detection of a fire.

Limitations on the functionality of the kit:

  • visual detection of a fire by the driver (only by external signs). GFEA «Doping-2.160p» in this situation will fire one at a time, as the fire spreads. Since «Doping-2.160p» is a means of volumetric quenching, a single operation of GFEA , if installed more than one, may not create the necessary fire-extinguishing concentration and not extinguish the fire that has arisen.

Advantages compared to option 1:

With the introduction of the UPSP set, it is possible to continuously monitor the launch line of GFEA «Doping-2.160p». In normal operation, the UPSP LEDs glow green. When the wires from the driver’s cab to GFEA break, the color of the diode changes to red. The driver can take timely measures to detect and fix the malfunction.
